My church running group started up again today and it was a blast!
Most of us will be running in the Spring races and probably the KDF mini-marathon at the end of April. The temperature this morning was about 19 degrees and it was sunny.
Before our group met, I drove through the park and saw tons of people running. (at least 50 and perhaps as many as 100) Not much of a surprise in that all of the local running groups have started up except for the cold. Doing that actually helps motivate me. It's easy to try to talk yourself out of doing the run when the weather is bad but seeing all those people running reminded me that if they could be out there, then I could do it too.
We started out lightly today. Just under 3 miles for our first run. We had turn around points for everyone, so that nobody had to do more than they felt they could handle.
The best thing about a running group is that it is just so much more fun to be running with others. In the marathon training and also for the triathlon training, I was training by myself most of the time. When the workouts are 30 minutes or so, that's not so bad. But when you are getting into workouts that are an hour or even several hours long, it can be really hard to stay motivated.
If you are local and interested in running, maybe even doing some of the Spring Races, come join us! We start on Saturday mornings at 8:30 AM. Any level of fitness and any pace is welcome. Shoot me a message and I can offer more details.
Have a great day!
David
